WOODKA: #Intothebox

Known for their signature timepieces made exclusively from wood, WOODKA is a local watch brand that celebrates the beauty of nature and Indonesian culture with a touch of fun and quirkiness. In 2018, WOODKA launched a new series which features a classic rectangular design—a contrast from their usual round one—and asked us to photograph their first square series product campaign.

“Thinking out of the box”, a saying to address something unique, now ironically became one of the most mainstream concepts. Reversing the narrative, thinking #Intothebox was made as a counter narration—or even as a slight jab to the irony—as we played along with the rectangle design of WOODKA’s new series.

“It’s always fun to create something with a ‘counter-culture’ as the concept. This project challenged us to create something new out of seemingly outdated and irrelevant concept. Which turned out pretty satisfying for us, and hopefully for the viewers too!”
